V Finglas Celtic,
11-09-2010
Score: 3 - 1
Man of the Match: Jack Homan
League: DDSL
Division: C
Age Group: Under 9
A BRACE from Jack Homan and a solitary strike from David Ahearn was enough to give Dunboyne an outstanding 3-1 victory over Finglas Celtic in this pulsating DDSL under 9C encounter.
Although the scoreline may suggest that this was a routine victory for the home side, it was anything but as Finglas made their hosts work their socks off for the points. Dunboyne raced into an early two goal lead and they looked like they would storm to victory, however Finglas came storming back and when they halved the deficit they had some great chances to get back on level terms but just couldn’t find the finish required. Dunboyne, in the end they deserved the victory as they were clinical going forward and watertight at the back

WOODLAWN notched up a convincing win on Saturday morning against a brave Rivervalley Rangers side in the Sportslink in Santry. Three goals were enough for Woodlawn to see off their visitors, although the scoreline was harsh on Rivervalley who put in an excellent performance in this Under-8 pre-mier match.
The first half was full of chances but only one that could be converted as Woodlawn stormed into the lead early on. Rivervalley fought back after the break but two more goals from the hosts finished the game
off. This brought an end to a terrific win for Woodlawn against tough opposition who were very unlucky on the day.

In the second game of the new campaign things were oh so different. The new pitch suits them,
they play with high energy and zip the ball around. From back to front, they have match
winners.Class In goal Eoin Kennedy shows maturity beyond his years, the likes of Thomas Scully and Sean
Meagher never stop running, and they have a touch of class in Dean O’Neill up front.
It is clear they have come through their Cup final woes, and in truth, Railway Union, for all of
their own endeavour, were just second best on Saturday morning.
Aylesbury started the game with a point to prove and were on the front foot almost immediately.
With two minutes on the clock Aaron Lowe almost got Aylesbury off to the perfect start.

Tymon Celtic are up and running for the 2010/11 season after beating new boys Donnybrook FC 8-1 at
Tymonville Estate on Saturday morning. This Donnybrook side had yet to play a game together,
and it showed, with the hosts using every ounce of experience to pick holes in their defence.
When Target last came to Tymon, halfway through last season, they had all the raw talent, but lacked a little
know-how and played a lot on the counter attack. But this team is growing fast, and thoroughly dominated
proceedings from start to finish on Saturday.
Devin Colton got four goals, before Anthony Metcalfe tagged on his own hat-trick and Craig Byrne got in on the act.

A 1st league Hat-trick from Centre Forward Uche Odirichukwu was enough to secure all 3 points over a tough Ratoath Harps team in a great end to end game of football in this U13's encounter in Hartstown park.
Both teams came to win, but it was Huntstown who got the better start with some good 1 touch football & were rewarded with their 1st goal after only 5 mins. The 2nd followed midway through the 1st half after some good passing through the middle. Ratoath came back strong in the 2nd half & levelled the score with 2 quick goals but Uche got his 3rd after a good cross from winger Dean Casey.

A STEPHEN McCann brace and Sam Smith goal helped a battling Park Celtic
take all three points in this DDSL Under-10 B encounter as they defeated Dingle United 3-1
in John Paul Park on Sunday. In what was a fascinating game the sides were very evenly-matched right
throughout the first half and it took a wonder strike from McCann to give Park the lead at half time and although Dingle had some brilliant chances in the second half they just couldn’t find a way
back into the game before Celtic killed it off. Dingle took a while to get going in the
game but once they kicked into gear in the second half they looked like they would take at least a point from the game but Park seemed to have that bit more composure in front of goal

For the second week in a row, St James failed to turn posession and pressure into a winning scoreline, going down 2-1 at home to a Railway Union side that took their chances and then defended the lead well.
Railway were given time and space inside the St James penalty area to fire home early in the first period. St James led by their midfield dynamo Sam Small pressed for the much of the first half, but Railway always looked dangerous on the break however. Early in the second half, Railway extended their lead. St James pushed hard to get back into the game, and with ten minutes remaining, Ross Chandler swept a sweet volley home from the edge of the area. St James laid siege to the Railway goal late on, but Railway hung on for victory.

Railway Union travelled to Herbert Park for this derby match with local rivals Belmont. Both sides like to play football and the the match was played at a high pace from the off. Slightly against the run of play Belmont took the lead with a clinical finish after some individual skills, before Railway's Sam Streek equalised from distance moving onto a fine through ball from Christian Farrell. Then, before half time Railway took the lead with a pile-driver from Elliot Haran, after a swift break on the right, to go in 2:1 ahead.
The second half was a full-blooded affair as Belmont went in search of an equaliser and though Railway had chances to steal it Belmont's pressure finally paid off with a goal from a near post corner. A classic derby.

Both teams faced each other for the 2nd time in 7 days. Ratoath looking to get a home win after their 3-2 loss last week in Hartstown Park.
Huntstown started the sharpest with some tidy passing, finding the wings and it wasn't long before they were rewarded with their 1st of 4. The 2nd & 3rd goals for Huntstown were scored in the 1st Half as Huntstown dominated possession & were looking at a comfortable win.
It wasn't to be, as in the 2nd half, Ratoath pulled 2 back from set pieces before Huntstown scored a 4th AMAZING Goal with only minutes remaining.
Again, ratoath came forward & were rewarded with a good 3rd goal but Huntstown had enough in the locker to see out a good 4-3 away win.

Beechwood maintained their recent winning record against a gallant St James team that defended in depth, but rarely threatened up front. Beechwood, playing at home, dominated possession in the first period and took a deserved lead in the 10th minute. The second half saw St James coming back into the game, but Beechwood always looked the more threatening in the final third. St James keeper Sam Byrne produced a stunning save from a Beechwood free kick, and St James defender Harry McEvoy found himself making a number of last ditch tackles to keep his team in the game. A good game of football from both teams in this U10c NDSL match at Hartsown CC .
Home team Huntstown Villa started well and got an early goal well taken by McGuinness. Ratoath Harps fought hard to pull it back and came close on a few occasions. In the second half Ratoath pressed and kept Corlett, Kestell and O'Shea busy at the back but a good run down the right got them the deserved equaliser. Ratoath's keeper made some fine saves to keep Huntstown out. Doherty and Noctor came close, but Lawal's finish broke Ratoath hearts in the end.

The reverse fixture to the season opener which Firhouse won 5-0 was a much tighter affair, with Firhouse emerging narrow winners in a keenly contested game. The home team started the better and could have taken an early lead when Ross Chandler found space in the Firhouse box only to see his effort go narrowly wide. Firhouse took the lead towards the end of the first period when a free kick was headed home by their number 11. St James rallied after the break, forcing several chances only to be caught with a sucker punch after their keeper Sam Byrne made a fine stop only to see the ball slotted home from the rebound. A game that had it all, end to end stuff, 6 goals, reversed penalty decision and no Ref...
The game nearly didn’t happen at all when no Ref showed, but both Managers stepped in to save the day doing a half each. Swords began better and went ahead when they caught the back line napping. Dylan Garrett leveled for Huntstown but Swords upped their game and took a 3-1 lead into half time. Huntstown came out fighting in the 2nd half and went at Swords pulling goals back through Moran & Plumber. Swords pushed hard hitting the bar and a last ditch tackle from Farrell saw the ref point to the spot, but rightly changed his own decision and gave a corner.
Draw was a fair result in the end... Credit both Managers for stepping up to Referee...

Freebooters replied as their striker was afforded space in the box and slotted the ball home. There was to be no famous comeback as Joshua Barcoe added a gloss to the score line with a late strike.

Man of the Match: Dean Casey

A single goal from Center Forward Yousef Mahdy gave Huntstown Villa all 3 points in this Under13 Premier Division clash in Hartstown Park on Sunday.
Huntstowns Captain Mark Kelly took control in defence along with Kieron Cahill, Benny Luindula & Mark Daly. Between them, Navan Rd found it hard to penetrate.
Conditions were just right for a good game of soccer which both teams displayed on the day. There was very little between them throughout the game, with some good surging runs from both teams.
Man of the Match Dean Casey & midfielders Conor Hamilton, Jamie & Adam Clarke caused a lot of trouble for Navan Rd's defenders, but it was Yousef Mahdy who got the only goal after 22 mins.
Well done to both teams on a good game.

For the second time this season, a tight keenly fought contest, where Kingswood emerged on top against a St James team that is far better than their current position in the table suggests. Kingswood who had edged the reverse fixture in an early season thriller, led 2-0 at the break, the difference between the teams being the clinical finishing of the League Leaders. St James fought hard after the break, but despite long periods of posession, couldn't fashion a clear cut chance until late in the game, when Sean Monahan broke free in the centre only for a cruel bobble of the ball to deny St James a well deserved goal. Kingswood are a fine footballing team, comfortable on the ball, and worthy divisional leaders at this stage of the season.

Shankill worked hard to create chances in the final third on a pitch which was slanted in the home teams favour. Solid defending and good linkup play ensured the ball was in the Ballyowen half for most of the game. The team worked hard and tested the defence which had 10 men behind the ball.
With Shankill 's better passing game Ballyowen were soon behind. Some marginal offside calls signalled alarm bells. There was no doubt, however, when Chloe Rigley rounded off a fine team attack with a well deserved goal. Ballyowen made a tough game of it and with 10 minutes to go burst through on goal. What looked like a certain goal was saved by brave goalkeeping by Sean Larkin. Shankill closed out the match for the 3 points

Carrigaline Hib's progressed to the 1/4 Final of the Local Cup with a 4-3 win over Division 1 side Douglas Hall on penalties after it ended 1-1 after extra time. Jack Kelly scored for Hib's in normal time with Hib's keeper Daniel Marnane saving a pen in the second half. Out standing performances from Dan Moloney (C), Adam Moore and center backs Paul Gould and James McSweeney gave us the platform. In fact it was to be these four who scored from the spot, but the hero status was Marnane who saved two penalty's to put Hib's through.
