Match Report: Huntstown Villa FC
V Rathoath Harps,
Score: 2 - 1
Man of the Match: Ciaran O'Shea
Age Group: Under 10
A good game of football from both teams in this U10c NDSL match at Hartsown CC .
Home team Huntstown Villa started well and got an early goal well taken by McGuinness. Ratoath Harps fought hard to pull it back and came close on a few occasions. In the second half Ratoath pressed and kept Corlett, Kestell and O'Shea busy at the back but a good run down the right got them the deserved equaliser. Ratoath's keeper made some fine saves to keep Huntstown out. Doherty and Noctor came close, but Lawal's finish broke Ratoath hearts in the end.
An Excellent game contested by both Teams....
Match Report: St James Athletic U9
Score: 1 - 2
Man of the Match: Sam Small
League: SDFL Premier League Cup
Age Group: U9
The reverse fixture to the season opener which Firhouse won 5-0 was a much tighter affair, with Firhouse emerging narrow winners in a keenly contested game. The home team started the better and could have taken an early lead when Ross Chandler found space in the Firhouse box only to see his effort go narrowly wide. Firhouse took the lead towards the end of the first period when a free kick was headed home by their number 11. St James rallied after the break, forcing several chances only to be caught with a sucker punch after their keeper Sam Byrne made a fine stop only to see the ball slotted home from the rebound. A late reply from St James Tom Cullen saw St James pushing for a late equaliser. Firhouse hung on for the win.
Match Report: River Mount Boys
V St Kevin's,
Score: 3 - 1
Man of the Match: Gary O'Connor
Division: U 11
Age Group: U 11
As part of their 35th Anniversary celebrations Rivermount Boys took on St Kevins in an NDSL U11 clash. A super game the first goal came from a corner Adam Maher crossed a magic ball into 6 yard box and Gary O Connor scored. After 15 mins of play Kevin's hit back . Into the second half, the same combination from Adam and Gary brought home the bacon once more when Adam hits a ball back post and Gary scores. St Kevin's missed a penalty hitting the post on 50 mins. Shortly afterwards Adam Maher was fouled out side the box and Gary o Connor stepped up and scored to make his hat trick and it finished at 3-1.
Good goalkeeping by Dara Serry, excellent work by midfielder Adam Maher and great defending by Glen Lynch, every inch the captain.
